The Church's Birthday!

Celebrating Pentecost 2008 at Saint Faith's

Sunday, May 11th was Pentecost Sunday (or Whit Sunday as it used to be called).
On that feast day we mark the coming of the Holy Spirit to the Apostles at the first Pentecost,
and  we celebrate the 'Birthday of the Church'.

As in previous years, the church was decked for the festival
and the service was marked with colourful and innovative liturgy and worship
- with readings in Italian, French and Latin as well as English!.

Chris Price's pictures show something of the festive atmosphere that marked this very special day.
You can follow the links at the foot of this page to see previous years' celebrations,
and to access poetry and prayers for Pentecost.
